Turbonegro opens the championships

01 December 2011 • Only a week after the confirmation of Dropkick Murphys, another fantastic christmas present is coming up:  Turbonegro, the most legendary death punk band of all times, will play a special concert at the opening night of the snowboarding championships in Oslo! Tickets are out on sale.

Turbonegro played at the official kick-off party of the world snowboarding championships in New York in November. A lot of fans wanted to hear the band play again, after four years of silence - now entering the stage with a new lead singer, the British vocalist Tony Sylvester. The sold out comeback concert in N.Y. was for sure a success.

Finally the Norwegian death punk fans and die hard Turbojugends can look forward to some euforian hours with lots of energy and passion when Turbonegro opens the world snowboarding championships in Oslo Saturday 11 February 2012.

"Terje and the Norwegian snowboarders are making history, and we are very greatful to be asked to play at the opening night of the first world snowboarding championships since 1999. It's four years since we played at home. We are looking forward to play our first concert in Norway with our new lead singer, says gitar player and manager Rune Rebellion Grønn

"It was a privilege to host the legendary Turbonegro concert at Santos Party House in New York. But one Turbonegro party is not enough. We are going to export Santos Party House to Oslo during the championships days, and I'm extremely excited that Turbonegro is opening our week filled with high class entertainment and sports," says Andrew W.K., the party ambassador of the snowboarding championships.

During the championships there will be concerts and activities every day at Mathallen, Vulkan, where Andrew W.K. hosts his party concept Santos Party House together with the world championships organizer. Turbonegro becomes the very first band to play.

"Snowboarding is not about official ceremonies, flags and nationality. Turbonegro's celebration of rock and music, suits us better. This magic night will be our opening ceremony," says Henning Andersen, CEO of the World Snowboarding Championships 2012.
